I had the chance to drive the MG Cyberster, and while the car itself is a masterpiece of design and performance, my experience wasn’t just about the machine — it was also about the reality of driving such a head-turning EV on Indian streets.
Performance & Power
The Cyberster is sharp and fast. The instant torque is addictive — every press of the pedal gives you a smooth surge forward. On open stretches, it feels like a true roadster, planted and confident.
Handling & Ride Quality
Here’s where I felt a big difference compared to regular cars. The suspension is tuned sporty, so every bump, pothole, and uneven patch of road was felt directly. At first, it was exciting, almost like the car was telling me exactly what the road surface was saying. But after a while, in city traffic, it did get tiring. You can’t escape the reality that our roads aren’t built for such low, sporty EVs.
Design & Street Reactions
The car looks futuristic — convertible styling, sharp lines, and scissor doors that make people stop and stare.
And that’s exactly what happened. Everywhere I went, heads turned. Street kids and bystanders crowded around the car at signals. At first, it felt flattering — driving something that makes such an impact.
But then came the flip side. Some kids started begging aggressively, and when I didn’t hand out money, they had no hesitation in banging the car, trying to dent it, or running hands across it in ways that risked scratches. That’s the reality of driving an expensive, flashy EV here — the attention is not always positive.
Technology & Cabin
Inside, it feels like the future. The cockpit is digital, screens are responsive, and the layout really wraps around the driver. It’s comfortable, but the low stance makes you very aware of your surroundings — and vulnerable too, in chaotic traffic.
Thoughts
The MG Cyberster is a stunning roadster that delivers thrills, futuristic looks, and strong performance. But driving it here also reminded me that with such a car, you don’t just face bumps on the road — you face bumps in social reality too. Every scratch, every handprint, every stare tells you this car is not just about driving; it’s about standing out in ways that don’t always feel comfortable.
Still, for me, the Cyberster was an unforgettable drive — equal parts dream and challenge.
